Ceremonies

Weddings

My journey into ceremonies began in the 1990s when ... I married my mother! I was living in the US back then and she and her now-husband asked me to marry them. These things were possible in California at that time. Since then, I've had the privilege of creating ceremonies for several couples—including my own wedding in 2015, when marriage equality finally allowed me to marry my partner of 25 years.

I know firsthand how powerful it is to craft a ceremony that feels completely, authentically yours.

Whether you want a full marriage ceremony with legal solemnisation, a commitment ceremony or a vow renewal, I'll work with you to create something meaningful—incorporating the traditions, readings, music and language that resonate with your relationship and your values.

Funerals

Everyone deserves to be remembered as they lived—fully, authentically and on their own terms.

I create remembrance ceremonies that honour the whole person, whether that means a quiet, reflective gathering or a vibrant celebration filled with music and stories. My approach is deeply personal, working with families to craft rituals that provide comfort and meaning during grief.

I'm proud to offer Died with Pride ceremonies—an inclusive approach to funerals and end-of-life celebrations for members of the LGBTQ+ community, offered by queer Entheos celebrants who understand the importance of being seen and celebrated fully.

I also support ceremonies for other significant losses—the end of relationships, the passing of beloved pets, changes in health—any transition that deserves acknowledgment and closure.

My commitment to this work runs deep. When a dear friend's partner died suddenly in 2000, finding someone to provide a non-religious ceremony in rural Ireland was nearly impossible. That shouldn't have been so hard. Twenty years later, I was honoured to facilitate the funeral of my beloved colleague Sherie de Burgh—an experience that inspired me to pursue formal training so I could provide others with the skill and sensitivity this work requires.

Baby welcomes

Every child's arrival tells a different story—some come after years of hoping, some arrive unexpectedly, some bring joy mixed with complex emotions. Some join families through adoption, fostering or assisted reproduction.

Whatever your journey, a Baby Welcoming Ceremony offers a beautiful way to formally introduce your child to the community that will help them grow. These celebrations are typically short, child-centred and can include naming rituals, commitments to the child, and the designation of Guide (God) Parents if you wish.

It's a moment to pause amidst the beautiful chaos of early parenthood and celebrate this new life.

Other ceremonies

Some of life's key moments deserve acknowledgment. Whether it's a milestone birthday, a gender affirmation, a divorce, a career achievement, or simply celebrating who you are—ceremonies create space for reflection, joy and closure.

In Ireland, we're not always comfortable drawing attention to ourselves. But why not? If a ceremony would hold meaning for you, let's create it.
